A new sculpture by world-renowned contemporary American artist Louise Bourgeois has been unveiled at the Qatar National Convention Center on the grounds of Qatar Foundation. The sculpture, named “Maman”, is a large spider that will occupy a central location in the upcoming convention center scheduled to officially open next December.

Join The Monumental Gunpowder Drawings for Mathaf
Commissioned by Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art for a solo exhibition opening in December, the artist Cai Guo-Qiang will collaborate with local volunteers to produce a series of drawings rendered by igniting gunpowder. The entire process will be open for public viewing from October 22 – October 26 at Al Riwaq, the special exhibitions hall located next to the Museum of Islamic Art.

Murakami – Ego, A New Exhibition by Japanese Artist Takashi Murakami
Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) is proud to announce a new major exhibition by Takashi Murakami, the artist’s first solo exhibition in the Middle East. Murakami – Ego will be on view from February 9 to June 24, 2012 in the Al-Riwaq exhibition hall, located on the grounds of the Museum of Islamic Art on Doha’s Corniche. The exhibition will immerse visitors in a fantasy world conceived by the renowned Japanese artist, capturing the way Murakami channels the ecstasy and anxiety of contemporary culture.

Arab Games Exhibition opens at QMA Gallery in Katara
Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) is organizing the Arab Games Exhibition, which will open to the public from October 5th – December 23rd, 2011, at the QMA Gallery in Katara. The exhibit coincides with Arab Games Doha 2011 – the 12th version of the Arab Games, which will be held in Qatar from December 9th – 23rd, 2011. The exhibition is an effort of the Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum at QMA, supported by its partners Qatar Olympic Committee and Egyptian Olympic Committee.
